Since 1935, Assistance League has served the Santa Ana community with the greatest motivation to help children and their families. With over 450 volunteers, the Assistance League, a non- profit organization, has been able to make a difference. Today over 2750 people of all ages receive help from the Santa Ana Assistance League. More than $600,000 in direct services is returned to the community annually and members volunteer over 25,000 hours of community service on behalf of local families in need.
Our volunteers put on a number of events throughout the year to raise money all in an effort to not only help the children of Santa Ana, but their families as well. With our on going yearly fundraiser, the Thrift Store, along with the Carousel of Possible Dreams, Oktoberfest, and The Best Taste of Santa Ana, our ALSA members are able to help the Santa Ana community.
Below are some of most high impact programs.
Important Assistance League of Santa Ana Programs:
Assistance League of Santa Ana Scholarship Program:
College scholarships are provided by the Pupil Recognition Opportunity Program and granted to graduates in the Santa Ana Unified School District. Annually 30 scholarships are awarded at a Recognition Ceremony in the spring.
The Dental Center provides Santa Ana Unified School District children with low-cost dental care and hygiene education. Dentists and hygienists work with volunteers in our on-site clinic to provide affordable dental care.
Operation School Bell:
New school uniforms, including shoes, jackets and underclothing, are furnished through Operation School Bell®, the nationally acclaimed philanthropy of National Assistance League®.
Through volunteer work, more than 2,500 students are supplied with appropriate clothing and backpacks each year. For many children, this is the first time they've had new clothing and shoes to call their own.
Perfect Attendance Incentive Program:
Offers elementary and middle school children a chance to win a bicycle and helmet by having perfect attendance.
Gift of Giving:
Forty families in the Migrant Education Program of the Santa Ana Unified School District are treated to a wonderful Christmas party at our beautiful Modjeska Chapter House. The families are adopted by ALSA members and friends. All of our guests enjoy face painting, crafts, visits with Mrs. Claus and Santa, and a lovely buffet of food and treats. Our families receive gifts and grocery store certificates.
